07-May-2010 – Ich war für 10 Tage geschäftlich in der Nähe von San Francisco, und da ich einen Mietwagen und ein Navigationsgerät zur Verfügung hatte, wollte ich auch die Gelegenheit nutzen, meinen ersten Confluence Punkt auf dem nordamerikanischen Kontinent zu besuchen. Nach Feierabend fuhr ich von San Mateo auf dem US101 Highway nach Südwesten, dann auf dem CA85 und CA17 nach Süden in Richtung Santa Cruz. Ich verließ den Santa Cruz Highway an der Ausfahrt 3 und folgte der Glen Canyon Road weiter nach Süden. Über den Banciforte Drive erreichte ich den Parkplatz, der zur Recreation Area unterhalb des von anderen Besuchern erwähnten Golfplatzes gehört.

Ich folgte einem Fußweg, und über den „Enchanted Trail“ kam ich schnell in die Nähe des Confluence Punkts. Die eindrucksvollen, sehr hohen und dicht stehenden Redwood Bäume machten es dem GPS sehr schwer, die genaue Position zu lokalisieren. Die langsam hereinbrechende Dämmerung erschwerte das Fotografieren etwas. Laut GPS Track war ich aber maximal 20 Meter vom CP entfernt. Dies war mein erster Confluence Besuch ohne weitere Begleitung.

07-May-2010 – I was for 10 days on business travel in the San Francisco area and as I had a hired car and a navigation device, I wanted to take the opportunity to visit my first confluence point on the North American Continent. After finishing work for the day I drove from San Mateo on the highway US101 towards South East and then on the CA85 and CA17 South direction Santa Cruz. I left the Santa Cruz Highway at exit 3 and followed Glen Canyon Road further South. Via Bancifort Drive I reached the parking place which belongs to a recreation area beneath the Golf range mentioned by other visitors.

I followed a footpath and along the “Enchanted Trail” I soon got close to the confluence point. The impressive, very high and dense redwood trees made it very difficult for the GPS to locate the exact spot and the beginning sunset made it difficult to take good pictures. But according to the GPS track I was within 20 Meters of the CP. This was my first confluence visit without companions.
